What is the cost of owning a holiday home?

If you are purchasing on one of our parks, the prices we quote include transportation, siting and connection of your home at your chosen destination. To give you an idea, our new homes start at around £21 995 ( Irm Titania, 2 bedrooms, centre lounge, fully equipped)
The site fees range from 2000 euros to 2900 euros per year in the Dordogne, Site fees will be slightly higher on coastal parks. Site fees include the maintenance, facilities and running of the park.

What are the additional costs?

With any home you buy there will be running costs to consider. You French Retreat will make you aware of these costs before you purchase, such as:

Gas - which is purchased by the bottle, available to buy on the Park.

Electricity - is metered you only pay for what you use.

Insurance - like a house or a car, you need your holiday home to be insured. This is easy to obtain and costs around 150 euros per year

Taxe de sejours - as your second home is not classed as a residential dwelling, you do not pay council tax, however a small holiday tax is applicable in France, some parks include this charge in the site fees as a set fee.

How long can my home stay on the site?

Most parks in France offer a yearly contract. As long as your pitch and holiday home is kept in good condition, you pay your rent on time and follow the park regulations, your contract will be renewed each year. Our parks do not have a policy where you are constantly pushed to upgrade. If a holiday home is cared for it can easily last up to  25 years...

What happens if I want to sell?

There are many options in selling your home, Your French Retreat can advise and assist you if the sale of your home is necessary.

Can I rent it out?

Each park has its own sub-letting policy, some will do it for you and others are happy for you to do it yourselves. We do have some parks who will only let your friends and family use your home. We will let you know which parks offer this option.
